About Me
Ok, time flies when you’re having fun, I can’t believe I have been a professional photographer for 38 years! At the age of 10, I remember getting my first instamatic camera. I loved taking pictures of my animals, family and the neighborhood kids. In high school, I walked into the yearbook class and asked to be the photographer. After passing the test of shooting a roll of black and white film, the rest was history.
People ask me what I like to photograph the most; seniors, pet, weddings, etc. It’s not the subject that matters, the relationships and emotions inspire me.
It may be the new dad holding his son or the mother of the bride who is sick and lives out of state, but manages to find the strength to make it to her daughter’s wedding. It’s watching a mom tear up as her child is having their senior picture taken. It might be a family getting together to have a portrait done and seeing all the joking, love and sometimes even a little stress.
No matter the subject or situation, my goal is to capture the emotion and the love. The best feeling is when a client experiences an “A-ha” moment when they see the finished product.
I am completely humbled to become a fixture in my clients’ lives as their families grows. I have photographed children when they were young, then I did their senior portrait, then their wedding; and now I am photographing their children. It is so rewarding to become a part of the family and watch them grow!
Another aspect of photography that I love is the ability to continue developing my skill. I have earned my Master of Photography from the Professional Photographers of America Association. Currently, I serve on the board of Detroit Professional Photographers Association(DPPA) and have served on the board of the Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce. I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Photographer of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2015 by the DPPA and was a silver medalist at the PPA International Print Competition in 2013-2015.
